IIA AI Knowledge Center: New Tools for Internal Auditors

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way organisations operate and it is also creating new opportunities and challenges for the internal audit profession.

To support internal auditors in navigating these developments, The Institute of Internal Auditors has developed an Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Center, bringing together guidance, tools, research, webinars, training and other practical resources.

New AI Framework Support Tools

A recent addition to the Knowledge Center is the AI Framework Support Tools.

These practical tools are designed to support internal auditors and other stakeholders in applying The IIA’s AI Auditing Framework. They provide resources to help assess and address AI-related governance, risk and control considerations.

The tools include questionnaires and supporting resources for different stakeholders, including management, ERM, the audit committee and the board.

New: AI Prompting for Internal Auditors

One of the latest additions is AI Prompting for Internal Auditors, published by IIA in August 2026.

This practical resource provides prompts that internal auditors can use to support different stages and activities of the internal audit process, including planning, testing, reporting and audit analysis.

It offers a practical starting point for internal auditors looking to explore how generative AI can support their work while maintaining professional judgement and appropriate oversight.

The AI Prompting resource and Framework Support Tools are part of IIA's broader Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Center, which brings together a wide range of resources for internal auditors seeking to build their knowledge and understanding of AI.

The Knowledge Center includes practical tools, guidance, research, webinars, training and other resources covering the opportunities, risks and implications of AI for internal audit.
